Call for Sponsorships
The International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) is held once every four years. With an estimated participation of nearly 4000 delegates from all over the world, and covering all branches of mathematics in plenary and in about 20 parallel sessions, it is the most prestigious global mathematical activity organized by the International Mathematical Union. The inaugural ceremony is a high profile event, usually attended by the top representatives of the government of the host country, and by other important dignitaries. During this ceremony, up to four Fields Medals (considered to be as prestigious as the Nobel prizes), for mathematical research, the Nevanlinna Prize, for outstanding achievements in Computer Science, the Gauss Prize, for life time achievement in Applied Mathematics, and Chern Medal Award to an individual whose lifelong outstanding achievements in the field of mathematics warrant the highest level of recognition are awarded.
It is a matter of great pride to all Indians that India has won the bid to conduct the next ICM in the year 2010. It will be held in Hyderabad, at its state-of-the-art convention centre, the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), during August 19-27, 2010.
The local Executive Organizing Committee (EOC) expects the bulk of the funding for this mega event to come from governmental sources. However, in the interest of promoting awareness of the importance of mathematics amongst the general public, and in keeping with the philosophy of encouraging public-private-partnership in all important spheres of activity, the EOC invites sponsorships from private enterprises. In order that the publicity given to the sponsors on the ICM 2010 website and in other publicity material as well as at the venue of the Congress does not get too diffuse, the EOC has decided that the number of sponsorships shall be limited. Sponsors are invited to contribute in one of the following categories:
- Platinum Sponsors Rs. 60,00,000 and above
- Gold Sponsors Rs. 40,00,000 to Rs.60,00,000
- Silver Sponsors Rs. 20,00,000 to Rs.40,00,000
The sponsorship is to be paid directly to the EOC as a donation. The sponsors names will be mentioned in this web-site of ICM 2010 and a link provided to one web-site as desired by the sponsor. Interested Platinum sponsors will be extended facilities to set up an office for 2 days at the venue for recruitment. Also Platinum sponsors will be mentioned as exclusive sponsors of one of the following events/activities connected with the ICM in all relevant documents and publicity material. The Platinum Sponsor may choose one of the activities with which they want to be associated for this and will be allotted their choice unless already taken by another Platinum Sponsor. We suggest that the sponsor indicate more than one choice for this giving the order of preference.

- Local Transportation. Local transportation will be provided by the Organising Committee for transport between hotels and venue of the congress. Prominent display of the sponsor’s name can be made in the buses and at some locations at the venue.

- Prior to the congress, there will be a General Assembly meeting of the IMU where about 200 delegates from some seven countries will deliberate on matters relating to international cooperation in mathematics. A sponsor may opt to be associated with this meeting. Publicity material related to this can carry the name of the sponsor.
- Also prior to the Congress, the EOC will be cosponsoring a meeting with the European Women in Mathematics. This meeting is aimed at addressing issues related to women in mathematics and also afford an opportunity for interaction specially among women from different areas in the world. Sponsors may choose this event.
Sponsorships not taken up by the Platinum Sponsors will be offered to the Gold Sponsors and any that are left after that to Silver Sponsors. The Organising Committee reserves the right not to accept sponsorship offers.
